Natural Way, a poem that may remind you of someone you know or may be your own self.
Natural Way
There’s a girl that I know
she’s in a class of her own
she works the worst hearts
and makes them her own
She hangs around danger
it’s her only vice
she’ll latch onto trouble
and get into fights
She’ll get claustrophobic
and blame it on you
and you won’t understand it
so she’ll fight with you too
I have something to say to her
she knows anyway
hers is a need that can’t feed
in a natural way
She wants to be freed
from her sexual need
she can’t understand
this insatiable greed
She’ll pick up men
who can’t believe their luck
they want to make love
she wants to fuck
Her love has been tainted
by what’s gone before
she looks at me blindly
hoping for more
I have nothing to say to her
it’s less trouble that way
hers is a need that we feed
in the most natural way
She wants to be loved
but loves to be lonely
she wallows in self pity
and sneers at the homely
She wants to feel love
from those that won’t harm her
like a father for his son
like a mother for her daughter
She questions and answers
in the same breath
her rhetoric stutters
with uncertain depth
She hides behind religion
but can’t see the truth
enlightenment’s a mission
and life’s an excuse
And is it wrong
to know what you want
and is it wrong
to know how you feel
She spends so long
looking for another way
my life goes on
the hand I’m dealt is the hand I play
There’s a guy that she knows
he’s in a class of his own
he works the worst hearts
and makes them his own
His love has been tainted
by what’s gone before
he looks at her blindly
hoping for more
She sees in him different
she sees something nice
his heart’s made of butter
and she cuts like a knife
They have something to say to me
I knew anyway
theirs is a need that they feed
in the most natural way
